Thank you to the 180 parents who attended the Quiz Night. It was the most wonderful evening of questions and prizes and I was so impressed by this year’s enthusiasm for the theme, with each table dressing up to represent their chosen tube station.

The ‘Best Dressed Table’ was Bond Street, with each person dressed as one of the famous Bond characters, including the golden girl! It was a wonderful evening of laughter and a huge thank you to all the staff who volunteered to help during and after the event. The winning team, by just one point, was King’s Cross who now have the task of consuming a magnum of Taittinger!

On Thursday morning Year 2 had an amazing workshop about inspiring women, we had a super time learning about some truly remarkable figures from history. We explored the stories of Hera, Frida Kahlo, Edith Cavell, Amelia Earhart, and Rosa Parks.

Each woman inspired us in different ways, from standing up for others to expressing ourselves through art and even soaring through the skies! We had so much fun campaigning for rights, painting powerful portraits, and pretending to fly a plane like Amelia. It was a fun and empowering session full of learning, creativity, and courage.

Hundreds of families walked into Trinity Road Chapel this morning with arms full of food, blankets, clothes and so much more. Parents and children entered with so many bags full of supplies that were placed all over the tables.

We were totally overwhelmed by the generosity leading to us having to place items all over the chapel and extra tables were set out in order to hold all the donations. A group of prefects were given the task of planning, organising and moving all the supplies to the correct spaces and it was such a success.

Thank you so much to all who donated. Your efforts will make such a positive impact on our local community.

Last Friday both the children and staff of 51¶¯ÂþÃâ·ÑÔÚÏß¹Û¿´ came into school in outfits from all over the world and were given the opportunity to try foods from different countries. Many parents of the school very generously prepared an international food market, whereby each year group were invited to pass through the market and select from a wide array of options.

We had food from Italy, South Korea, Iran, Portugal and Germany just to name a few. The children enjoyed the food together and were very excited about trying foods they may have never tried before.

Overall, the day was a fantastic display of multiculturalism that the children displayed with pride and enthusiasm.

Maroon Town brought the vibrant spirit of Jamaica to 51¶¯ÂþÃâ·ÑÔÚÏß¹Û¿´ with an unforgettable series of workshops for every year group. Pupils immersed themselves in Jamaican history through an electrifying mix of singing, dancing, and interactive acting, making it a truly captivating launch to Black History Month 2025.

The children were fascinated by the workshop and joined in with all there was to offer. Part of the workshop included a lesson on the story of the battle between Britain and Spain for Jamaica as well as the story of Jamaica’s independence. Many children volunteered to join the band at the front for singing and dance segments before more joined to act out the story of Jamaica and Reggae. This was such a valuable and culturally enriching experience for all of us; where singing and learning were accompanied by so much joy.

The entire school gathered around the edge of the playground, accompanied by all the staff and many parents to watch our annual ‘Clubs Display’. Having started several years ago as a Karate Display, the event has grown year on year to include our dance and gym clubs and latterly Mr Bruce’s band.

As always, the Karate Club fascinated us with a mix of Japanese and well-rehearsed moves from our youngest members through the Brown Belts.

It really was a wonderful hour of performances, concluding with a song from the Year 2 play and one from the Year 6 play. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, including the club leaders who came into school to help and to Miss Susan for organising it.

On Thursday, Year 6 had the pleasure of welcoming back some familiar faces – old Fintonians Margot, Tom, and Hugh – for an engaging Q&A session all about the transition to secondary school.

They offered thoughtful, practical advice on everything from making new friends and keeping primary school friendships strong, to knowing who to ask for help and how to make a great first impression on new teachers.

One of their top tips for staying out of detention? Make sure your shirt is tucked in! Their honesty and encouragement left Year 6 students feeling more confident, informed, and excited about the journey ahead.

The long-awaited Sports Day and Finton Fest, a whole day in the sunshine on Trinity Fields was a huge success. The races all struck a wonderful balance of competition and sportsmanship with children congratulating and commiserating with each other at the finish line. We celebrated Charrington’s victory, having won most of the relays, and then it was time for a picnic lunch and the Finton Fest.

The thirteen inflatables certainly kept everyone entertained throughout the afternoon, along with other stalls. We thoroughly enjoyed welcome the new reception cohort and their families to a family fun day at Finton, welcoming them before they join us in September. It is hard to think how the day could have gone better and a huge thank you to the whole of the Finton staff who made both events so successful with their tireless work.
